Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. In 1981, she began covering for the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional Correspondent. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has appeared as a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, and the arms control. Mitchell travelled along with President Ronald Reagan on numerous occasions for summits, and to discuss issues including the Iran Contra scandal.
